New Jersey teacher accused of sexually assaulting two male teens

Law enforcement accuses a 25-year-old woman of sexually assaulting two 16-year-old males over the summer. The woman works as a high school teacher and authorities say that the two teens are students of the young woman, according to a story carried by the Record in Hackensack.

Middlesex County authorities believe that the woman engaged in some kind of unlawful sexual activity with the two younger males at separate times during the summer. Prosecutors have filed charges against the high school teacher alleging two felony counts of sexual assault and two other counts alleging child endangerment.

Authorities claim that the woman sexually assaulted each of the males on multiple occasions. However, the nature of the alleged multiple unlawful acts have not been publicly reported in news accounts. The high school teacher was booked into the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center with bail set at $200,000. The high school teacher has been suspended from her job (with pay) at Sayreville High School, according to the Associated Press.

Sex crimes in New Jersey can carry significant penalties if a person is convicted of an offense. Many states, including New Jersey, have a variety of separate laws that may come into play surrounding a sex crime. In addition to significant jail or prison time, a person convicted of many types of sex crimes may be required to register as a sex offender. These types of add-on penalties can lead to significant charges in the future if a mistake or misunderstanding in the registration process is alleged by authorities.
