New Jersey 13-year-old arrested on string of sex offenses

A 13-year-old New Jersey boy is accused of a string of sex crimes in Camden County. Authorities believe that the boy approached a number of different women beginning late last year and touched each of the women in a sexually inappropriate manner. Many of the women claim the young teen grabbed the women on their backsides. One of the women claims that the boy displayed a condom before he grabbed her. Some of the women say that the boy tried to give them a kiss.

Law enforcement was called to the apartment complex in Blackwood, New Jersey, on Sunday. A resident says that a boy who matched the description of the person who had approached five women over three months was at the location. Police say that they expected that the person who had allegedly been inappropriately grabbing women was older than the 13-year-old boy who was arrested on Sunday.

The young teen is facing a list of fairly serious offenses, including allegations of aggravated criminal sexual assault and sexual assault. The teen was taken to the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.

Any sex crime allegations in New Jersey can bring significant consequences for a person accused. Parents of a juvenile who is charged with a sex crime may not fully appreciate the full implications of the charges. While the juvenile courts may handle cases with different procedures, an adjudication of delinquency may still involve harsh consequences -- especially when an adjudication is related to sexual offenses. Sex crimes can result in long-term consequences after any finding of guilt.
