2 men charged for robbery, kidnapping

Two men in New Jersey have been taken into police custody for allegedly robbing and kidnapping a 19-year-old man in Totowa on Nov. 17. According to the alleged victim, the two men approached him while he was on Route 46. The victim claims that he was threatened with what he thought was a silver revolver and forced to enter his home in Wayne.

While they were at the alleged victim's home, the accused 19-year-old and 20-year-old men allegedly stole items from the man's garage. After the robbery, the men reportedly fled the scene. Police visited the home of one of the accused men on the following night with a search warrant where they allegedly discovered a silver weapon that reportedly looked like a real handgun. There were no reports about what items were taken from the victim's garage or whether those items were recovered.

Both of the accused men received charges for theft, kidnapping, burglary, possession of a weapon and making terroristic threats. The Totowa Police Department is also expected to file armed robbery charges against the men. They both were booked at the Passaic County Jail. They were each held on $500,000 bail without any 10 percent option.

When a defendant is facing a number of different charges for a single incident, he or she might consider hiring a criminal defense attorney in order to possibly have some charges dropped or reduced. An attorney could do this by working out a plea deal with the prosecution. If the defendant has no prior criminal record, a judge may be more likely to approve a plea deal.
