Man accuses rapper DMX of robbing him at New Jersey gas station

Police in Newark were contacted by a man who claimed that rapper DMX robbed him of over $3,000. The robbery allegedly took place at a gas station following the rapper's show at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

According to the police report, the 21-year-old man said that someone in the rapper's entourage showed a handgun when the rapper robbed him outside an Exxon station on Route 21. Although DMX has been accused of animal cruelty and drug possession in the past, he said during an interview with TMZ that he expects the gas station's surveillance footage to exonerate him. DMX added that he makes more than $3,000 from one of his shows and has no motivation to rob people. He attributed the false accusations to his celebrity status.

The lawyer for the rapper added that the alleged robbery victim actually approached DMX to take pictures. The man also allegedly offered drugs to the performer. No charges have been filed against the rapper by the Newark police.

A person who is accused of a crime has a right to contact an attorney and learn about their rights to a defense. An attorney could advise the person about the long-term consequences of a misdemeanor or felony conviction. If a criminal trial is planned, then an attorney can defend the person in court. A defense attorney often scrutinizes the evidence against a person and challenges its validity whenever possible. This action might gain an acquittal or lenient sentence.
