Crash investigation leads to sex charges for New Jersey man

In New Jersey, a Sicklerville man was taken into custody after police found him in his vehicle with a teenage girl on March 11. News reports indicate that the a 32-year-old man had initially met the girl online where he had allegedly exchanged explicit videos and pictures with her. He was facing numerous charges and being held on $20,000 bail.

The incident happened in Florham Park following a single vehicle crash at the Municipal Pool. According to news sources, an investigation into the accident was underway when authorities discovered the damaged van in the Emmett Field parking lot with the man and the teen inside. The van had reportedly backed into a dumpster at the pool.

As a result of the incident, the man has been charged with a number of motor-vehicle offenses including DWI and failure to report an accident. He is also facing several sex crime-related charges, including child endangerment, providing false information to a police officer, possession of child pornography and exhibiting obscene material to a child.

Because sex offenses involving minors can be of a particularly sensitive nature, New Jersey residents who find themselves facing these types of charges may want to seek advice from a criminal lawyer as soon as possible. While working hard to protect a client's rights, the lawyer may be able to expose deficiencies in the prosecutor's case and negotiate a reduction of the charges or help a client enter into a plea agreement with the prosecutor that could result in lesser penalties being imposed.
