2 charged for endangering a child, 1 accused of sexual assault

A bond hearing was held on Aug. 16 for a 32-year-old man who was accused of sexually assaulting a minor by New Jersey authorities. A 32-year-old woman who was also accused of assaulting the minor is facing charges as well.

An investigation into the assault began after the 10-year-old girl told authorities that the 32-year-old woman beat her with a hanger and belt for misplacing money. She reportedly had visible bruises from the beating. At the end of the interview with the authorities, the girl told investigators that the 32-year-old man had been sexually assaulting her.

The accused man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated sexual assault. Following the bond hearing, during which he denied the charges, his bail was lowered from $300,000 to $250,000. The accused woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Because the man is not a U.S. citizen, prosecutors requested that an immigration detainer be put in place for him so that he would not be able to contact the minor.

If a person is charged with sexual assault, they could potentially face serious consequences such as prison time and registering as a sex offender. This could affect where the person may live or work in the future. A criminal law attorney may assist by defending the person against such claims. The accused person may potentially have an alibi that proves that they could not have committed the crime or evidence that they were misidentified and not involved in the alleged incident.
